Casio, one of the world's leading watch companies, has joined the battle for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in partnership with Astar's zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine. The Casio watch NFTs will go online on May 1.
Casio's NFT Debut Features Iconic Watch Designs
According to the statement, the new development is intended to commemorate Casio's 50th anniversary. Astar Network also used X to announce its big relationship with Casio, as per Coingape.
“In celebration of #CASIO Watch’s 50-year legacy, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of exclusive commemorative NFTs inspired by iconic CASIO timepieces, all within the YoPort of Astar zkEVM’s Yoki Origins journey!”
The Japanese watchmaker has formed strategic alliances with creators who will create the digital collectibles in this series.
Notably, the Casio watch NFT collection has eight pieces (artwork) representing various creators' work. Each piece of art would depict a popular model of Casio's watch.
Enhancing NFT Accessibility with Astar zkEVM's YoPort
This Casio partnership with Astar zkEVM, a powerhouse formed by Astar and Polygon, is critical since it will improve scalability. Astar zkEVM, powered by Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK), has just begun using Yoki Origins for its gamified user onboarding experience. The Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution incorporates the Yoki Origins experience in this new partnership with Casio.
The Casio YoPort capsule machine, designed by the watchmakers, will be displayed at Yoki Origins. Casio offers the YoPort in two configurations, allowing interested buyers to purchase one or eight NFTs. The art for this piece will not be accessible for viewing until May 10, designated as Reveal Day.
The Casio watch NFT sales participants can win various prizes, including an original G-Shock and Astar for 10,000 yen (about $64). The watch would include the Astar zkEVM logo.
Casio has made another foray into the NFT environment. Eight months ago, the popular Japanese watch manufacturer introduced the virtual G-Shock watch using Polygon's protocol. It was followed by introducing an NFT-based collection of community access passes. Users were able to claim one of 15,000 NFT-based G-SHOCK creator passes.
