Chainalysis Maps Binance Theft Funds Across TRON and Chinese OTC Networks

The Chinese OTC transfers were a small fraction of the $6.3 billion theft. A separate route moved about $500 million through TRON and more than 1,000 addresses.

Chainalysis traced cryptocurrency worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from the $6.3 billion Binance theft to Chinese over-the-counter (OTC) networks, which the firm viewed as evidence of efforts to cash out.

That amount was a small share of the reported theft. Across the wider laundering activity, Chainalysis identified nearly $1 billion in stolen assets entering laundering channels.

Separately, the firm tracked about $500 million moving through TRON. The funds were divided among more than 1,000 addresses before continuing to Ethereum and Bitcoin (BTC). Chainalysis places a later laundering stage on Solana, after transfers passed through intermediary TRON wallets.

Earlier tracking by Chainalysis followed Binance-linked funds through Tron-based decentralized finance services, including swaps from TRX into stablecoins and deposits into protocols. EconoTimes covered that earlier tracing.
