Chainlink (LINK) price declined 3.02% to $12.97 on October 8 as a broader cryptocurrency market selloff overshadowed the launch of its new CCIP Vault Adapters, designed to simplify cross-chain decentralized finance (DeFi) deposits.

The downturn followed Bitcoin's slide below $83,000, while Ethereum, XRP, and Solana recorded steeper losses. According to CoinGlass, approximately $550 million in leveraged cryptocurrency positions were liquidated within 24 hours.

Geopolitical uncertainty also weakened investor confidence. Concerns over potential U.S. military strikes against Iran and attacks on oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz pushed Brent crude above $100 per barrel. Elevated U.S. Treasury yields and a stronger dollar added further pressure on risk-sensitive assets.

Despite the market weakness, Chainlink introduced CCIP Vault Adapters on October 8, allowing users to deposit assets into supported DeFi vaults across more than 80 blockchains through a streamlined process.

Powered by Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), the infrastructure enables vault providers to maintain investment strategies and accounting on one blockchain while accepting deposits from other networks.

Major DeFi protocols adopting the technology include Aave, Lombard, United Stables, Veda, and Venus. The development aims to address fragmented liquidity by reducing the complexity of bridging assets and switching networks.

Meanwhile, Chainlink exchange-traded funds recorded zero net inflows on October 7, according to SoSoValue. Total ETF assets stood at $226.29 million, with cumulative inflows reaching $168.96 million and daily trading volume totaling $4.85 million.

Grayscale's GLNK declined 4.60% to $11.82, while Bitwise's CLNK dropped 3.91% to $24.40.

From a technical perspective, LINK remains under selling pressure after retreating from its late-September high above $15.

The Chaikin Money Flow indicator stood at -0.14, signaling weak capital inflows. Meanwhile, the MACD reading of -0.270 remained below its signal line of -0.197, reinforcing bearish momentum.

The immediate Chainlink price support sits at $12.80. A sustained four-hour close below this level could expose LINK to further declines toward $12.00.

Conversely, holding above $12.80 could support price stabilization. A recovery beyond the $14.00 resistance level may open the door for another move toward $15.00, although broader cryptocurrency market conditions remain a significant factor.
