Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao said he wants BNB Chain to be a primary network for AI payments, but gave no explanation of how the network might fill that role.
Zhao made the comments in New York on Oct. 26, after an opening-bell event at Nasdaq involving BNB Standard. He named Bitcoin (BTC), stablecoins and AI-company tokens as possible payment methods for AI agents.
He also floated bringing tokens representing computing capacity onto BNB Chain. Zhao said the topic surfaced in a discussion that day but provided no design details.
He pointed to a checkout problem: a seller may not accept the crypto a customer holds. For payment startups, Zhao recommended beginning in underserved markets and cross-border remittances before pursuing competition with Apple Pay and Google Pay in the U.S.
Zhao had earlier described cryptocurrency as necessary for transactions by AI agents. He gave no launch date for BNB Chain’s proposed role.
