Euronews reported Oct. 28 on growing speculation about rapper Nicki Minaj taking the White House press secretary job, but Steven Cheung’s post did not announce her appointment.
Cheung, the White House communications director, posted a video on X on Oct. 25 showing him speaking with Minaj aboard Air Force One. His caption said he and others “may have found” the next press secretary.
Cheung did not say whether the line was meant as humor or a serious suggestion. A formal offer or appointment is unverified.
The White House identified Katie Zacharia as its 37th press secretary in an Oct. 13 release about her first briefing. CBS News, citing two U.S. officials, reported that Zacharia was removed from the role on Oct. 16, five days after taking the job. Cheung’s post came nine days after CBS News reported her removal.
EconoTimes previously covered Cheung’s press secretary remark about Minaj.
