Chip-linked positions worth $51.6 million were liquidated on Hyperliquid over 10 minutes on Oct. 17, while U.S. stock markets were closed for the weekend; long positions accounted for most of the total.
The tally covered 5:22 to 5:32 p.m. ET (21:22 to 21:32 UTC). Bets on rising prices made up about $38 million. SanDisk and SK Hynix contracts each had about $10.8 million in liquidations, compared with roughly $12.7 million for SOXL-linked contracts.
U.S. stock markets were closed during the interval, leaving no live share quotes for the stock-tracking contracts. Trade XYZ lists the contracts on Hyperliquid. Its rules permitted reference prices until share quotes resumed at Monday’s U.S. market open.
The tally records the value of positions exchanges forcibly closed; it does not specify traders’ cash losses. An earlier EconoTimes explanation of liquidation totals discusses the distinction between position value and traders’ losses.
