Chipotle Mexican Grill just unveiled its newest menu, and it is called the Chicken Al Pastor. The fast-casual restaurant is initially releasing the said food item to more than 90 locations for testing.
Chipotle is offering the spicy Chicken Al Pastor in its select stores in Indianapolis and Denver. The company said this week that this is the latest addition to its grilled chicken line, and customers will surely find them irresistible.
As mentioned on CNBC, the new menu option will give an extra kick with every bite since it is spicier compared to the regular chicken being sold at Chipotle restaurants. It is grilled and seasoned with a special marinade of the brand's signature adobo, ground achiote, Morita peppers, and a speck of pineapple.
The Chicken Al Pastor is also the burrito chain's second chicken menu to be introduced this year. In March, Chipotle launched its Pollo Asado which was its very first chicken variation since the company was founded in 1993.
The trial for Pollo Asado has been successful, and sales for it were at the same level as the restaurant's smoked brisket. The brisket has become Chipotle's best-selling item in its recent history, so this means that the Pollo Asado has greatly contributed to the company's increase in terms of food sales.
Moreover, although the company does not break down the sales for individual food items, the management confirmed the high success of the said chicken option despite being made available for just a limited time.
"We created Chicken Al Pastor to fuel our fans who have been craving spicy chicken from Chipotle," Chipotle's chief marketing officer, Chris Brandt, said in a press release. "The new menu item artfully pairs fire with flavor in a uniquely Chipotle way."
Chipotle's Chicken Al Pastor is made with freshly grilled chicken and seasoned inside and out. It is then hand-chopped after being marinated to make it tender and easy to bite.
The chicken is completed with a drizzle of fresh lime and topped with freshly chopped cilantro. Finally, Chipotle's new chicken menu is available from Sept. 6 to Sept. 11 only.
