OpenAI’s account of its Cisco collaboration says security teams need both security telemetry and observability data to interpret suspicious activity.

The announcement separately describes Cisco network intelligence used with OpenAI models. It presents security telemetry alongside observability data as a way to give defenders more context when evaluating activity.

That context is intended to help analysts distinguish deliberate attacks from unintended conduct by autonomous systems pursuing legitimate tasks. Cisco President and Chief Product Officer Jeetu Patel said the approach operates at “machine speed and scale.”

The announcement cited OpenAI’s enterprise privacy approach as support for the deployment. Its listed elements include zero data retention, customer-data boundaries and isolation, but the announcement did not confirm settings specific to Cisco.
