Election questions made up about 0.51% of a sample of Claude consumer chats, Anthropic said, as it prepares state-tailored voting answers and official results for U.S. midterm voters.

Anthropic said Oct. 14 that the feature is expected to reach Claude.ai later in October. Users will be able to ask where they can vote and what identification they need, with replies tailored to their state.

Democracy Works, a nonprofit, will supply public election information from state and local offices. The organization says it reviews the material and standardizes it before Claude uses it.

Claude is set to retrieve the latest official tally when asked about results on election night or afterward. Questions about registration, polling sites or election dates will direct users to Democracy Works’ TurboVote. Anthropic said the banner link was announced earlier in 2026.

The companies’ announcements say their partnership began in 2024. The new guidance is planned ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm election.

Anthropic said it reviewed a random sample of 250,000 U.S. consumer conversations on Claude.ai from Sept. 21-27, 2026. About 0.51% involved elections or voting. Requests for recommendations on candidates or ballot measures accounted for about 0.01% of the chats, the upper end of the 95% confidence interval Anthropic reported for that category.
