SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 25, 2018 -- Mirantis announced today that it is bringing back Adrian Ionel as the CEO to help accelerate the company’s growth into multi-cloud application delivery. During his initial tenure as CEO, Ionel led Mirantis’ investment in OpenStack, growing the company from a handful of customers to more than 200 enterprises. Co-founder and current CEO, Alex Freeland, will remain a board member.
“Technology changes, but the foundation for an enduring company remains constant: a fantastic team caring deeply about customers,” said Ionel. “It is our genuine curiosity and care towards customers that enabled us to become the OpenStack partner of choice for enterprises and service providers. The same culture will also make us a great partner for a multi-cloud journey.”
Most Mirantis customers are adopting a multi-cloud strategy while embracing open source. Mirantis’ open application delivery platform makes it easy, safe and efficient for them to deploy and run apps on any cloud. The company will continue to invest in its OpenStack business to empower customers to tailor their use of public vs private clouds to their needs.
“Mirantis has always played a key role in the OpenStack community,” said Mark Collier, COO at OpenStack Foundation. “And with their recent re-election to the OSF board, the Mirantis team can continue helping us bring open infrastructure to new markets, beyond just private cloud, in 2018 and into the future."
“We selected Mirantis as a partner for the infrastructure layer enabling virtualization and programmability across Jio’s cloud centric network and platforms in the everything connected era,” said Mathew Oommen, president of Reliance Jio. “We look forward to working with Mirantis on leveraging and contributing to open source technologies in the evolution and creation of network and services platforms.”
“With Adrian re-joining, Mirantis is positioned to be the industry leading partner for any enterprise looking to adopt open standards for multi-cloud application delivery,” said Stu Phillips, managing director at Insight Venture Partners.
In just the past year, Mirantis has launched multiple Kubernetes initiatives, as well as a new multi-cloud CaaS offering supporting enterprises in their transition to containerized, cloud-native applications. Mirantis also enhanced its DriveTrain lifecycle management capabilities in Mirantis Cloud Platform (MCP) to include features that facilitate multi-cloud application deployments that conform to an enterprise’s internal governance and policies.
