Autonomous Partners, a cryptocurrency hedge and venture capital fund, has received an investment from Cohen Private Ventures, a VC firm that makes investments on behalf of hedge fund billionaire Steve Cohen, Fortune reported.
Led by cryptocurrency enthusiast and venture capitalist Arianna Simpson, Autonomous Partners was launched in December with its headquarters in San Francisco. The firm has received backing from Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Union Square Ventures, and Craft Ventures.
The LinkedIn page of Autonomous Partners states:
“Autonomous Partners is a cryptocurrency hedge and venture capital fund focused on investing in cryptocurrencies, digital assets, and blockchain-based companies. The fund invests primarily in infrastructure and monetary use cases, with a particular emphasis on security, scalability, and privacy-enabling protocols.”
Simpson told Fortune that the firm invests a small percentage of its funds in cap cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. However, she is refraining from making XRP investments over concerns that it might be deemed as a security.
A big believer in blockchain, Simpson is particularly interested in firms that seek to make financial transactions faster, those involved in cryptocurrency infrastructure space, privacy coins that help in anonymizing ownership, and firms working to address the scalability issue of blockchain.
