Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong expressed his views regarding the future of cryptocurrency as he tweeted, "Ripple, Stellar, and Altcoins are all a distraction. Bitcoin is way too far ahead. We should be focused on bitcoin and sidechains".
Three of the biggest giants in the cryptocurrency ecosystem are Coinbase, BitPay and Blockchain.info, and they all focus on bitcoins. None of them deal in altcoins such as Litecoin, neither do they consider doing so. Bitcoin is considered as the most prominent of cryptocurrencies, and so it has the best possibility of booming in the future.
Armstrong says that in the coming years there will only be a single dominant digital currency and so dedicating resources to altcoins is futile.
Steve Beauregard, CEO of GoCoin, supporter of Litecoin and Dogecoin payments, tweeted in reply to Armstrong:
"We are just entering the Blockchain 2.0 era many exciting new developments. Too early to declare #Bitcoin the winner IMHO".
