Coinbase to Pause ZetaChain (ZETACHAIN) Trading During December Conversion

Coinbase says it will convert native ZETACHAIN into Ethereum-based ZetaChain (ZETA) at an approximate one-to-one rate without a fee; a separate Solana plan calls for a network halt around Dec. 9.

Coinbase will pause trading in ZetaChain (ZETACHAIN) on Dec. 7 as it converts exchange-held balances to Ethereum-based ZetaChain (ZETA), with deposits and withdrawals also set to stop.

The exchange's status notice places the conversion between Dec. 7 and Dec. 10. Coinbase says it will use an approximate one-for-one rate and charge no transaction fee for the conversion. Trading and transfers for ZETACHAIN are scheduled to be suspended starting Dec. 7 while the process takes place.

The ticker labels identify separate network versions in this Coinbase process: ZETACHAIN is the native-network asset being converted, while ZETA is the Ethereum-based version. The conversion concerns customers holding ZETACHAIN through Coinbase; the notice treats Ethereum-based ZETA separately.

Customers who prefer to manage the migration themselves must withdraw their native-network tokens before Coinbase disables transfers on Dec. 7. The exchange warns that tokens deposited to Coinbase through ZetaChain on or after Dec. 7 cannot be recovered. The exchange also plans to suspend sends and receives during the conversion.

Ethereum-network ZETA is outside this conversion, and Coinbase says trading and support for that version will remain available. It plans to keep supporting that version and leave its trading available, so the Dec. 7 service changes apply to ZETACHAIN.

The Coinbase timetable is distinct from a network change announced by ZetaChain. The project expects its Layer 1 network to halt around Dec. 9 as it plans to make ZETA available as a native Solana token. The dates overlap, but the announcements describe separate actions: Coinbase's conversion and trading pause for ZETACHAIN, and ZetaChain's planned network move.
