Comcast’s planned NBCUniversal-Sky split would leave shareholders with stakes in both companies as the company prepares for a fourth-quarter 2026 charge expected to exceed $1 billion.

On Comcast’s Oct. 22 earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Jason Armstrong said transformation work would account for most of the expected charge. He put the estimate above $1 billion but gave no itemized estimate.

The transaction would give NBCUniversal and Sky their own public listings. Existing Comcast shareholders are slated to receive an ownership stake in each business.

Co-CEO Mike Cavanagh said Comcast continues to target completion around mid-2027.
