SAN DIEGO, April 30, 2018 -- Comhear Inc., a San Diego-based audio technology company, announced today it will complete its successful crowdfunding campaign for YARRA 3DX™ on May 4, 2018. Having raised nearly $1.1 million to-date, the company is starting the production of its award-winning 3D audio sound bar, with plans to deliver the first production units to crowdfunding participants, followed by a retail launch of the product on Amazon in summer 2018.
Crowdfunding for the industry-first 3D audio sound bar, powered by the company's patented MyBeam™ technology, began in September 2017. As of April 25, 2018, the company has raised more than 1400% of its original goal, initially via Kickstarter, followed by Indiegogo On Demand.
YARRA 3DX is Comhear's first consumer audio product, designed to provide HiFi sound for gaming, music, home theater, and VR/AR applications. The groundbreaking beamforming technology that makes YARRA 3DX possible — MyBeam™ — was developed in conjunction with researchers at University of California San Diego (UCSD) and has already received critical acclaim. To-date, the company has won several awards for its industry-leading 3D audio technology, including an Innovation Award for the YARRA 3DX platform at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and a Technology Award for the MyBeam directional audio technology at the 2017 CES Show. Comhear also received an "Alfie" award from the LA Audio Show (LAAS) for superior technological achievement.
"We couldn’t be more pleased with the immense support we received during our crowdfunding phase," said Gerry Chastelet, CEO of Comhear. "We’ve spent the last several months finetuning YARRA 3DX with feedback from individuals exposed to our early prototypes, and we are confident the final product provides listeners with a high quality, compact sound bar designed to enjoy hi-fidelity music and an immersive 3D cinematic/gaming listening experience. The production process marks the last major step in bringing this first-of-kind audio product to our eager crowdfunding followers and the market.”
Offering both wired and wireless connectivity, analog and digital inputs (USB, TOSLink and HDMI), YARRA 3DX can be used as a standalone speaker or as a part of a home entertainment system. With its compact, simple and elegant design, YARRA 3DX is available in either silver or black. The YARRA 3DX sound bar is controllable by an app that allows users to adjust settings for near and far field operation, beam selection and presets, surround modes, positional data and firmware updates.
Backers of the crowdfunding campaigns can still secure one or more YARRA 3DX units through May 4, 2018. Each YARRA 3DX comes with an accompanying subwoofer, setup DVD, user instructions, six high-resolution surround music albums from AIX Records, and the YARRA 3DX app.
The crowdfunding completion follows a series of major recent milestones for Comhear, including the expansion of its leadership team, the completion of a $12 million capital raise and audio solutions partnerships with ViaTouch and Full Swing Golf.
