Core DAO said Oct. 27 it would place block production with independent validators, marking what it called a new decentralization phase and widening community operators’ role.
Core expects community participants to assume wider responsibility for development, ecosystem growth and network stewardship. It anticipates a larger pool of independent operators and community projects in the months ahead.
Core said initial contributors Rich Rines and Brendon Sedo were stepping away from their DAO roles. Rines said the community “will continue taking on more of Core’s development.” Core reported that the change caused no interruption to network service.
Core gave no target or schedule for handing over the responsibilities still outstanding and named no successors for Rines or Sedo. Its announcement did not spell out how community members would divide authority over development and the network’s direction.
Validators check transactions and create blocks. In Core’s Satoshi Plus model, validator selection draws on three inputs: delegated CORE, hash power produced by Bitcoin miners and Bitcoin (BTC) committed through staking while remaining in the holder’s custody.
