SpaceX’s proposed $40 billion plan to finance Nvidia chip purchases faces renewed pricing pressure as credit-market volatility raises borrowing costs, Bloomberg reported Oct. 23, citing people familiar with the discussions.
SpaceX’s earnings release and Sept. 30 Form 10-Q did not announce the proposal. The company’s third-quarter filing showed $19.593 billion in capital spending, detailed in a report on its third-quarter spending.
On an Oct. 20 earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnsen said fourth-quarter capital expenditures were expected to reach $35 billion to $40 billion. He said SpaceX was discussing “a number of available pools of debt capital” and expressed confidence in raising funds prudently while maintaining its investment-grade rating.
