Singapore-based ride-hailing service Tada has partnered with the TON Foundation to enable cryptocurrency payments for rides. Through a Telegram Mini App, users can book and pay with TON tokens or Tether, representing a novel integration of ride-hailing, social media, and crypto payments.
Ride-Hailing via Telegram Mini App Gains Traction
According to the announcement made by the TON Foundation, a partnership has been formed with Tada, a ride-hailing application in Singapore that will enable users to book rides and pay with cryptocurrency.
The collaboration resulted in the launch of a Telegram Mini App, which is a mini-application that operates within the Telegram chat platform. This app gives users the ability to schedule rides in Singapore, as reported by Cointelegraph. Through the usage of the Mini App, users will be able to close out their reservations through TON.
Zero-Commission Policy Favors Riders and Drivers
Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia are the countries in which Tada conducts business. The company was established in 2018. Because of the company's zero-commission policy, riders and drivers are able to take advantage of more favorable pricing. Later on in the year 2024, the corporation plans to set up shop in Hong Kong.
Users are able to pay for their trips using The Open Network token or Tether, both of which are based on the TON blockchain. This becomes possible as a result of the cooperation.
On April 19, Tether introduced its stablecoin, USDT, to the TON infrastructure by launching it on the network. A keynote address was given at the Token2049 event in Dubai, where Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, TON CEO Andrew Rogozov, and Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino were present. The news was made during the keynote speech.
4,000 Free Rides Available for Token2049 Attendees
In an interview with Cointelegraph, Harvey Kim, who is the head of Korea at TON Foundation, stated that the two organizations are advertising their relationship by providing users with 4,000 free rides and discounts in conjunction with the upcoming Token2049 event in Singapore. It was Kim who said:
“Attendees at next week’s TOKEN2049 event will be able to make free and discounted taxi rides using a Mini App in Telegram that doesn’t require any new downloads opens up in just one tap, and accepts both Toncoin and USDT on TON.”
Web3 and Web2 Platforms Connect for Crypto Adoption
Additionally, the CEO stated that the action has the effect of accelerating the dissemination of Web3 solutions. He elaborated as follows:
“If we want to accelerate the successful adoption of Web3 solutions, it’s crucial that strong partnerships are forged with exciting Web2 platforms that enable their users to quickly become familiar with the many benefits of Web3.”
TON Sees New Possibilities for Practical Crypto Use
Kim referred to the agreement as a significant step for TON, underlining the fact that it has the ability to offer applications that are practical for cryptocurrencies. Within the context of ride-hailing services, social media, and cryptocurrency payments, he pointed out that it is a novel combination of these aspects.
On the other hand, when the CEO was asked whether it is preferable to pay using cryptocurrency rather than fiat currency, all they responded was, "the choice is yours."
