“Cyberpunk 2077” developers did not hold back in voicing their disappointment during a recent internal meeting with CD Projekt SA directors. Employees who participated in the making of the much-awaited RPG were reportedly “frustrated and angry” and questioned their bosses about the development practices that led to its problematic launch.
‘Cyberpunk 2077’ developers voice disappointment over ‘unrealistic deadlines’
“Cyberpunk 2077” has been making headlines over the last week, but mostly for unflattering reasons. The game was delayed several times throughout the year and reportedly making developers crunch weeks ahead of its Dec. 10 launch. Despite all that, last-gen console players still found many bugs and gameplay issues in the game.
It turns out that the consumers and the people who created the game share the same disappointment. Bloomberg reported that “Cyberpunk 2077” developers were “frustrated and angry” during an internal meeting last Thursday. Despite CD Projekt directors’ apology for the problematic launch, developers raised questions about “unrealistic deadlines” and “relentless overtime” in the years and months ahead of the game’s release this month.
The same report, based on accounts of two people who attended the said meeting, mentioned that one developer also asked CD Projekt bosses about the decision to tell fans that “Cyberpunk 2077” was completed as early as January even though it was reportedly not the case. It can be recalled that the game was originally set to launch last April until it was delayed to September. At the time, CD Projekt told fans, “We are currently at a stage where the game is complete and playable, but there’s still work to be done.”

Problematic launch haunts ‘Cyberpunk 2077’ release on last-gen consoles
Aside from the bugs and gameplay issues, CD Projekt has also been criticized as some believed it deliberately hold off hands-on reviews of “Cyberpunk 2077” on last-gen consoles shortly before the launch. This was addressed by the company in a statement last week and apologized that it prevented fans from making a “more informed decision” before buying the game.

Players using new-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S report they do not find the same issues encountered by those using PS4 and Xbox One. However, it is worth noting new-gen console users currently have the “Cyberpunk 2077” build originally meant for PS4 and Xbox One. CD Projekt has promised a free next-gen upgrade, but a release date has not been given yet.
