LAKELAND, Fla., March 23, 2016 -- DSM Technology Consultants, Florida’s leading provider of fully managed private cloud and IT infrastructure services, has successfully completed a third party examination of its compliance with the data security requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Protection Act (HIPAA) and the Services Organization Controls 1 and 2 (SOC 1 and 2) specifications.
The third-party examinations that led to compliance with the data security standards were administered by the professional IT assurance and compliance staff at 360 Advanced, a national Qualified Security Assessor and Certified Public Accountant firm based in Tampa, FL.
“Achievement of these demanding data security compliance designations is absolutely a requirement for top managed cloud providers,” said Gregory Madden, Chief Operating Officer. “Our clients can be assured with DSM’s ongoing dedication to data security and that these recent audits illustrate a strong commitment to rigorously adhering to best practices around data security controls and processes.”
Madden explained that the HIPAA, SOC 1 and 2 compliance designations are in addition to the firm’s documentation of full compliance with Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) requirements, making DSM Florida’s only managed cloud provider with these demanding compliance certifications.
“Our clients, especially the financial, legal, medical and government sectors, are requesting these levels of data security controls, and they are being driven by their own compliance requirements to do so,” said David Robinson, CEO of DSM. “As the need to protect critical data, such as body camera images, client medical records and medical image data increases exponentially, the importance of finding a trusted cloud partner with the highest certification increases along with it.”
The HIPAA, SOC 1 and 2 and the CJIS designations give DSM a competitive advantage. “There are numerous cloud providers that compete in our marketplace, and those that make the significant commitment in maintaining compliances such as these are distinguished as best in class in the enterprise cloud environment,” said Robinson.
