Daily Journal Corporation has added Revir Technologies, Inc. to its government technology division, bringing in Scout, an artificial intelligence tool designed for justice and public safety agencies.

Daily Journal said the acquisition closed Oct. 13 and was announced Oct. 15. The company used available cash for the transaction and did not disclose its price. It said the purchase should not significantly alter its financial position or operating performance.

Scout creates an index of files drawn from hundreds of sources and uses AI to assist with digital evidence analysis. Deployments run in customers’ secure environments on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Daily Journal has grouped Revir with Journal Technologies, Inc. in its Courts, Justice, and Government Technology division, where Revir will operate independently. Scout will remain under the direction of Marc Messina, Revir’s founder and CEO, and his team. Daily Journal said existing customer agreements, support arrangements and partner connections will carry over after the acquisition.
