Deckers Brands lowered its fiscal 2027 net-sales outlook; in the quarter ended Sept. 30, comparable direct-to-consumer sales fell 6.4%, while wholesale and international sales increased.
The results were disclosed in the company’s Thursday, Oct. 22, Form 8-K, which EconoTimes covered in an earlier filing summary.
Chief Executive Officer Stefano Caroti said on Thursday’s earnings call that more promotions in U.S. athletic footwear had weighed on Deckers’ online performance. He said U.S. consumers were showing more interest in discounts and sales events. Deckers did not quantify the sales impact it attributed to promotions. Caroti said the company would weigh short-term sales opportunities against the need to preserve margins and brand value.
Net sales increased 3.5% from $1.431 billion a year earlier to $1.481 billion. Direct-to-consumer net sales fell 1.8% to $387.5 million. Comparable direct-to-consumer sales, a separate measure, dropped 6.4%; that measure had risen 6.8% in the quarter ended June 30.
Wholesale sales advanced 5.5% to $1.093 billion. International sales gained 9% to $644.7 million, while domestic sales slipped 0.4% to $835.8 million. HOKA sales rose 6.8% to $677.2 million, and UGG sales grew 3.5% to $786.4 million.
Deckers now forecasts fiscal 2027 net sales of $5.700 billion to $5.725 billion, down from the $5.86 billion to $5.91 billion range it issued July 23. It raised its diluted EPS forecast to $7.80-$7.95, including an estimated $0.52 after-tax benefit to diluted EPS from tariff refunds and related interest received through Oct. 8.
Second-quarter diluted EPS rose 27% to $2.31 from $1.82 a year earlier. That result included an estimated $0.28 after-tax benefit from $46 million in tariff refunds and $3 million in related interest received during the quarter.
