Democratic lawmakers are seeking congressional scrutiny of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s reported contacts with Megaspeed executive Alice Huang, after reporting tied the relationship to an alleged Chinese intelligence recruitment.

Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., wrote on X Saturday, “Congress will investigate and get answers.” CNBC reported that Rep. Seth Magaziner, D-R.I., a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, urged Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Huang to testify.

CNBC relayed The New York Times’ Friday account of an intelligence memo received by Trump administration policymakers last spring. The Times said it contained intelligence alleging China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS) recruited Alice Huang and information about her relationship with Jensen Huang. CNBC reported that the U.S. has suspected Megaspeed, a Singapore-based technology company, of helping China bypass restrictions on AI chip sales.

In a statement to the Times, Nvidia spokesman John Rizzo characterized Jensen Huang’s contacts with Alice Huang as comparable to his routine customer meetings, CNBC reported. Nvidia maintained that Huang did not pass on sensitive company information or national-security details, CNBC reported.

EconoTimes previously covered the House chairs’ request for a private briefing. CNBC reported that a Wednesday letter from three Republican House committee chairs requested a closed-door meeting with Huang on Nov. 18. The letter cited concerns about China’s access to sensitive U.S. technology and information; the requested session is one day after Nvidia’s scheduled third-quarter earnings report.
