NORWALK, Conn., May 09, 2017 -- JB Design, a Connecticut-based graphics design and branding firm, was the principal agency that designed the new identity for the iconic Goodwin Hotel in downtown Hartford, Connecticut, including the new website and integration of the eCommerce reservations system.
The Goodwin reopened for business in early May 2017 after sitting vacant for nine years. The refurbishment and redesign of the landmark building were completed by Stamford, Connecticut-based developer RMS Companies.
A boutique hotel that caters to business travelers during the week and weekend getaway guests, the Goodwin blends the modern aesthetics and amenities that travelers expect, with design elements that pay homage to the building’s historic nature.
JB Design was responsible for the entire brand strategy, including the corporate identity, the website with eCommerce and reservation system integration, search engine optimization, all external signage, sales and marketing collateral and the employee manual and communications literature.
JB Design founder J Berry worked with RMS and the hotel designers to ensure that the new logo and all associated branding and literature was consistent with the vision of mixing the modern with the traditional.
“The Goodwin project was an especially enjoyable challenge because of the hotel’s importance and historic significance to the downtown Hartford area and because the development team at RMS was so dedicated to ensuring that the history of the building was integrated into the new designs,” said Berry. “For that reason we created an overall brand and identity strategy across multiple platforms that are modern and timeless, much like the hotel itself.”
The Goodwin Hotel project is the second major hospitality collaboration between JB Design and RMS. Previously, JB Design created the look and identity for Hotel Zero Degrees, a regional boutique hotel with properties in Fairfield County, Connecticut.
“After the very positive experience of working with J and his team and the successful launch of Hotel Zero Degrees, it was a natural for us to work together on the Goodwin project,” said Randy Salvatore, CEO, RMS. “JB Design immediately understood what we were trying to accomplish with the blend of traditional and modern and executed the entire project on time and on budget, working as an integral part of the overall development process.”
In addition to hospitality properties, JB Design has extensive experience in corporate branding for global brands including Covidien/Medtronic, and NBC Universal, as well as local businesses including non-profits and civic organizations.
