Dogecoin Labs, formed with the Dogecoin Foundation on Oct. 21, aims to bring three products into one operation as House of Doge Inc.’s planned asset contribution for equity remains subject to closing conditions.
The transfer would cover selected functions across product development, engineering and commercial operations, plus related assets; House of Doge would receive an ownership stake in Labs. The company’s announcement lists satisfying applicable closing conditions and completing the transactions as forward-looking matters, but gives no expected closing date.
The formation announcement describes Labs as an independent organization intended to coordinate work on MyDoge, DogeOS and Such App. Product development and commercial uses are among its aims. Dogecoin Labs CEO Jordan Jefferson, who founded MyDoge and DogeOS, will lead the organization. The Foundation said it would retain responsibility for Dogecoin’s broader stewardship, advocacy and community work, and continue backing open-source development.
The announcements frame bringing the product teams together as a way to reduce overlapping work and shorten development time. House of Doge expects the transaction to lower its operating overhead and future capital requirements, and says its shareholders should benefit from what Labs builds. The company also plans to direct resources toward tokenized alternative investments and sports-related growth initiatives.
The products are at different stages. Since Sept. 30, developers have been able to use DogeOS’s public testnet to work on Dogecoin applications compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). Such App’s beta includes merchant sales in Dogecoin (DOGE), invoice functions and in-person payments using QR codes. A connection between Such App and DogeOS remains planned.
The proposed contribution remains subject to applicable closing conditions. House of Doge’s announcement does not set a completion date for the transaction.
