Dogecoin (DOGE) is approaching a potentially bearish technical signal as its daily moving averages move closer to forming the first death cross of 2026. However, growing whale accumulation and emerging buy signals suggest the popular meme cryptocurrency could still experience a bullish reversal.

The Dogecoin daily chart shows the 50-day moving average trending downward while the 200-day moving average remains relatively flat. A death cross occurs when the shorter-term moving average falls below the longer-term average, often signaling weakening momentum and potential further price declines.

The bearish setup follows Dogecoin's first golden cross of 2026 in October, which initially suggested improving market conditions. However, widespread cryptocurrency profit-taking pushed DOGE to a low of $0.077, threatening to reverse the earlier bullish signal.

At the time of reporting, Dogecoin was trading at $0.081, gaining 3.19% over the previous 24 hours as the cryptocurrency market recovered from an earlier selloff.

Market uncertainty intensified following stronger-than-expected U.S. inflation figures and Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's remarks on interest rates. September's producer price index showed wholesale inflation climbing 6.3% annually, its highest level since 2022, following an increase in consumer prices.

The Federal Reserve raised interest rates in September for the first time in more than three years. Investors currently anticipate policymakers will hold rates steady in October before potentially introducing another increase in December.

Dogecoin previously experienced a daily death cross in November 2025, followed by several months of selling pressure. Nevertheless, the latest technical formation remains unconfirmed, and a sustained price recovery could prevent the bearish crossover.

Meanwhile, cryptocurrency analyst Ali identified three indicators supporting a potential Dogecoin rebound.

The TD Sequential indicator recently generated a buy signal near $0.081, suggesting selling momentum could be weakening. Additionally, on-chain URPD data indicates approximately 36 billion DOGE previously changed hands around this price, establishing a potentially significant support zone.

Whale activity also strengthens the bullish outlook, with large holders accumulating approximately 600 million DOGE since October 12.

According to Ali, maintaining support around $0.081 could open the door for a Dogecoin price recovery toward $0.16–$0.17, a potential profit-taking range.

For now, traders are monitoring whether DOGE can defend its current support level or whether weakening momentum will confirm the anticipated death cross.
