South Korea’s won weakened slightly against the dollar Tuesday, with the dollar-won exchange rate closing at 1,323.7 as it stayed close to its lowest level of the year.

USD/KRW quotes the number of won needed to buy $1. Tuesday’s closing rate was 0.6 won above Monday’s 1,323.1, a rise that indicated a slight weakening in the won despite a decline from the day’s open.

Bank of Korea (BOK) data showed the rate opened at 1,325.0, or 1.9 won above the previous close. It then fell 1.3 won by the end of the session, recovering some of the initial move higher.

The 1,323.1 reading on Oct. 26 set the 2026 low for USD/KRW and marked the won’s strongest close of the year. Tuesday’s finish was 0.6 won above that point and remained 14.9% below the year’s high of 1,555.8, recorded July 2, BOK data showed. The rate was also 106.1 won below its Aug. 3 level of 1,429.8.
