The Trump administration has been constantly criticized for their response to the coronavirus pandemic, which has only seen a rise in cases all over the world along with a number of fatalities. However, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to accuse the Democrats of inciting fear among the public regarding the virus.
The Guardian reports that Trump went on another rant on Twitter, saying how he was slammed by the Democrats for closing the United States down to China. In turn, he accused the Democrats of inciting fear and panic over the coronavirus. “I was criticized by the Democrats when I closed the country down to China many weeks ahead of what almost everyone recommended. Saved many lives. (Democrats) were working the Impeachment Hoax. They didn’t have a clue! Now they are fear-mongering. Be calm & vigilant!” tweeted Trump.
Although Trump did not close down traveling from China, the administration imposed controls instead. The president has been slammed for downplaying the severity of the coronavirus, with experts predicting more confirmed cases over time. Along with these, he also came under fire for putting himself front and center of the White House’s response to the issue.
The day prior to Trump’s tweet, former vice president and Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden said “Only Trump could make the coronavirus all about him. The President is dangerous.” in a tweet, following his win in the South Carolina primaries.
When it came to whether or not his campaign rallies would get affected by the coronavirus concerns, Trump confirmed that his rally in North Carolina would continue as it was arranged “a long time ago.”
During Trump’s rally in North Carolina, the president took another jab at his Democrat rival Joe Biden, reports the New York Post. Trump said that should Biden win the November elections, he would not be doing the actual Presidential work and said that he would be in a nursing home. “They’re going to put him in a home and other people are going to be running the country. And they’re going to be super left radical crazies,” said Trump.
Trump also dissed another Democrat candidate, former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg, mocking him once again for his height and doing an impression. “What a mess he is. The worst debate performance in the history of presidential debates,” said Trump.
