Doosan Enerbility has ordered steam-generator tubing from Alleima for X-energy’s Xe-100 program, adding a component to procurement for a proposed Texas plant whose construction-permit decision remains listed as “TBD.”
The three companies announced Nov. 4 that this is the first procurement of steam-generator tubing for the Xe-100, X-energy said. Alleima will produce the specialized stainless-steel tubing. Doosan will turn it into helical coils for the reactor’s steam generators. X-energy describes the tubing as a long-lead component, but the announcements give no order value, quantity, detailed specifications or delivery date.
The parts are intended for the proposed Dow UCC Seadrift project in Texas. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) lists it as a four-unit plant with 320 megawatts of net electric capacity under its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. DOE says the program supports reactor demonstrations through cost-shared partnerships with U.S. industry. X-energy has described the project as a planned source of electricity and industrial steam at Dow’s Seadrift site.
X-energy says the Xe-100 can provide steam at temperatures up to 565 degrees Celsius for power generation and industrial process heat. Alleima said the order supports its investments in nuclear applications and advanced tubing capacity. The companies’ Nov. 4 releases also cite Doosan’s delivery record: 34 reactor vessels and 124 steam generators for nuclear facilities worldwide.
X-energy said Oct. 30 that U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff had completed a final safety evaluation after an environmental review concluded in May 2026. The NRC project page lists the construction-permit decision as “TBD”; the component order does not authorize construction. X-energy has said the review may inform future Xe-100 licensing, while later applications would still be assessed individually.
X-energy is scheduled to report third-quarter 2026 results Nov. 12. The companies have not announced a delivery date for the tubing.
