What: Siddharth Teotia, software engineer at Dremio and a contributor to Apache Arrow project, presents a session on, “Vectorized Query Processing Using Apache Arrow.” Siddharth will explore the significant ongoing development in columnar database technology and how high-performance systems are being designed. In addition, he will outline the different types of vectorized query processing in Dremio, using Apache Arrow.
When: Thursday, March 8 at 2:40 PM
Where: 230 C
What: Tomer Shiran, co-founder and CEO and Jacques Nadeau, co-founder and CTO at Dremio, will present “Data Reflections: Making Data Fast and Easy to Use Without Making Copies.” During this session, attendees will be introduced to data reflections, which dramatically reduces the need for data copies. In addition to providing an overview of data reflections and explaining the technological underpinnings, Tomer and Jacques offer a live demo of an open source implementation that shows how data science workloads, such as those in Python/pandas and R, and BI workloads can be automatically accelerated without having to explicitly move or copy data and while affording users the freedom to curate and transform the logical model of the data.
