Edison said QatarEnergy has extended an Italian liquefied natural gas delivery force majeure through year-end, adding three cargoes to disruptions that now cover 38 cargoes and about five billion cubic meters of gas.

The latest notice covers three more cargoes scheduled for Italy’s Adriatic LNG terminal. It replaces an early-December deadline with a year-end end date, Edison said.

Edison reported that it had replaced 27 affected cargoes by Oct. 27, equivalent to about 2.7 billion cubic meters. The company also said it could obtain enough gas to meet customer needs and commercial commitments.

QatarEnergy issued the underlying force majeure on March 24 for part of its long-term LNG contracts involving customers in Italy, Belgium, South Korea and China. QatarEnergy said missile strikes on March 18 and 19 damaged two LNG trains at Ras Laffan and estimated repairs could take three to five years, as described in EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of the Ras Laffan damage. The delivery extension runs through year-end.
