Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in Budapest on Thursday for an official visit to Hungary after attending the third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, the Egyptian presidency said. Anadolu Agency reported that the Hungary trip had not been announced before El-Sisi left Moscow.
Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) said on Oct. 28 that El-Sisi would lead Egypt’s delegation to the summit, held Oct. 28-29. The SIS notice also said he was scheduled to deliver Egypt’s address at the Thursday morning plenary.
On the sidelines of the summit, El-Sisi met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace, the Egyptian presidency said. They discussed trade and other areas of cooperation, including the El Dabaa nuclear power plant and a planned Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
The SIS identified the 2019 summit in Sochi as the first Russia-Africa Summit and the 2023 meeting in St. Petersburg as the second.
