Emirates NBD reported a 15% year-over-year rise in nine-month income as lending and deposits expanded, but higher impairment and hyperinflation charges limited pretax profit growth to 4%.

The Dubai-based bank said income reached a record Dh42.2 billion in the first nine months of 2026. Pretax profit came to Dh24.3 billion, while operating profit before impairment rose 14% from a year earlier to Dh29 billion.

Emirates NBD said higher impairment and hyperinflation charges weighed on results. Impairment allowances totaled Dh2.1 billion, mainly reflecting provisions at DenizBank that were partly offset by recoveries at Emirates NBD.

At Sept. 30, assets stood at Dh1.38 trillion, up 18% since the end of 2025. Gross loans reached Dh833 billion, a 27% year-to-date increase, while customer deposits rose 19% to Dh935 billion.

Those figures include RBL Bank Limited, which Emirates NBD acquired in June. Excluding RBL Bank, loans grew 18% and deposits rose 12% year to date.

Emirates NBD reported Dh174 billion in new lending during the nine-month period. Retail loans grew 17% and corporate lending increased 22%. Its impaired loan ratio declined to 2%, while its cost of risk stood at 37 basis points.

Emirates NBD has also agreed to acquire HSBC Egypt’s retail banking business as part of its regional expansion plans.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) separately approved a plan for Emirates NBD Bank P.J.S.C.’s Indian branches to operate as RBL Bank branches. The branch change approved by the RBI takes effect Dec. 1, 2026.
