The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) said Oct. 28 it is providing AED50 million in winter and medical assistance for Palestinians in Gaza, prioritizing children, older people and other vulnerable groups ahead of winter.

The listed items include winter clothing, blankets, food parcels and shelter tents, along with medicines and essential medical supplies. ERC did not detail how the funds would be divided among the different items.

The organization said the assistance is coordinated with Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 and responds to needs associated with the approaching winter. It linked the effort to directives from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. ERC said Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and ERC chairman, is tracking the initiative’s progress.

The announcement did not give a delivery date for the package.
