OTTAWA, Jan. 11, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Energate Inc., a leading provider of interactive energy management solutions that enable next-generation energy management for the Utility Internet of Things (IoT) and the connected home has been working with Retail Electric Providers (REPs) in Texas to provide Programmable Communicating Thermostats (PCT) and In-Home Displays (IHD) to their Lite-Up Texas customers.
The Public Utility Commission of Texas Advanced Metering System Low-Income In-Home Monitor Program provides eligible families with in-home technology through their REP at no charge. The program will provide technology for over 30,000 homes and continue in 2016.
Energate provides a complete turnkey program allowing REPs that may not have otherwise been able to participate due to limited resources or other constraints. The Energate program provides marketing, outreach, installation, customer services representative training, documentation and administration.
“This innovative approach in supporting Texas REPs is just one example of Energate’s commitment to providing solutions to our partners,” said Steve Dodds, Energate’s CEO.
Since the inception of the program Energate’s turnkey solution has been adopted by several REPs - exceeding expectations from program design to execution. Energate’s program has been very successful providing over 6,000 customers with interactive technology through the end of 2015. With approximately half of the original funds remaining, Energate still has capacity to service additional REPs.
“One of our REP customers was particularly pleased with our program,” said Louis Szablya, Energate’s EVP Sales and Marketing. “When asked if the program met their expectations they said, ‘YES! Great results. I think none of us … expected anything like this.’”
Eligible customers have the option to receive Energate’s HōlHōm PCT, an IHD, or both. These devices enable them to reduce their bill by teaching the customers about their electricity usage and cost. As households gain a better understanding of how electricity is consumed, they can save up to 12 percent annually on energy costs, according to a study by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.
HōlHōm is a smart thermostat that connects to the customer’s smart meter and displays energy consumption information in real-time. HōlHōm is Wi-Fi enabled connecting to HolCloud, Energate’s cloud services, and MyEnergate web portal and mobile app.
HōlHōm is compatible with Energate’s Consumer Connected Demand Response platform and with the customer’s permission can be used in load control and demand response programs.
