Engineers India Limited reported a record ₹20,420.5 crore in outstanding orders and higher quarterly profit, while turnover fell from a year earlier, showing a contrast between future work and current sales.

The Indian government-owned engineering company said standalone profit after tax rose to ₹179.75 crore in the quarter ended Sept. 30 from ₹114.91 crore a year earlier, an increase of about 56%. Consolidated profit climbed to ₹196.68 crore from ₹83.49 crore, its exchange filing showed.

Standalone turnover was ₹802.36 crore, down from ₹900.40 crore in the year-earlier quarter, though it edged up from ₹800.87 crore in the preceding quarter, the company’s investor presentation showed.

Consultancy turnover increased to ₹594.39 crore from ₹411.30 crore a year earlier, while turnkey project turnover fell to ₹207.97 crore from ₹489.11 crore. The decline in turnkey work more than offset the consultancy gain.

Engineers India’s order book stood at ₹14,424.2 crore on June 30 before reaching the Sept. 30 record. Consultancy work represented 75% of the latest total. The company secured ₹7,428.3 crore in orders during the six months through September, including ₹5,761.9 crore in consultancy work.

One September award was a ₹4,408.6 crore assignment for project management and engineering, procurement and construction management consultancy services for a refinery and petrochemical plant in Mokowe, Kenya. The presentation lists March 2031 as the completion date for the assignment.

The company reported earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or EBITDA, of ₹240 crore for the September quarter, with a 27% margin. The preceding quarter’s figures were ₹155 crore and 19%. Its EBITDA measure includes other income.

Engineers India called the order book an “all-time high” and said it offered visibility into revenue in coming periods. The rise in orders alongside lower year-over-year turnover leaves the timing of future sales from that work to be seen.

Shares rose as much as 15% intraday Monday, Nov. 2, Mint and Moneycontrol Hindi reported.

The board declared an interim dividend of ₹1.50 per share for fiscal 2026-27. The company said payment was due within 30 days. The record date is Nov. 5.
