England's Department for Education wants the School Teachers’ Review Body to assess teachers’ working conditions for 2027-28, alongside its separate work on pay recommendations for those years.

Secretary of State for Education Lucy Powell sent the request to Dr. Mike Aldred, who chairs the School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB). The department published the letter Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026; the government notice says it applies to England.

An earlier STRB remit for 2026 and 2027 covered pay recommendations for 2027-28. Powell’s new request asks the body to make recommendations on working conditions over that same period.
