Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications said President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday that diplomacy should address Iran-U.S. tensions and that Türkiye would continue supporting efforts to end the Ukraine war.

The leaders also discussed regional and global matters, the directorate said. On Iran, Erdoğan said Washington and Tehran should end their tensions and settle unresolved matters through diplomatic channels.

On Ukraine, Erdoğan separately expressed hope that expanded diplomatic work would produce a positive result. Türkiye would remain involved in efforts to end the war, and contacts with Ukraine and Russia should increase, he said.

Erdoğan also said he expected cooperation between Türkiye and the United States to keep growing. He said the two sides should work to give their relationship fresh momentum, according to the directorate.
