Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he believed Turkic states would pursue a shared “Turkish Century,” Anadolu Agency reported Thursday, ahead of a leaders’ summit of the Organization of Turkic States.
At a dinner in Ankara, Erdogan said the effort rested on “full solidarity, mutual respect and brotherhood.” The 13th OTS summit program in Ankara runs over Thursday and Friday. An OTS notice places the leaders’ meeting on Friday, Oct. 30, and gives its theme as “Turkic Century: Unity in Language, Thought and Deed,” as EconoTimes noted in its earlier coverage of the summit schedule.
Anadolu Agency said the agenda was expected to cover cooperation among the states and progress on the Turkic World Vision 2040. Founded in 2009, the organization has five members: Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The agency listed Turkmenistan, Hungary, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Economic Cooperation Organization as observers.
