Call options represented a bigger share of Ether (ETH) trading than of positions still open on Oct. 20, even as the value of those positions fell to $5.93 billion, Coinglass data showed.
Calls accounted for 67.23% of the $964.23 million in options traded over 24 hours, compared with 63.06% of open interest. Puts made up 32.77% of trading volume and 36.94% of open interest.
Open interest declined 0.23% from $5.94 billion in the Oct. 19 snapshot. In that earlier reading, calls had a larger share of outstanding value than of the day’s trading. Trading volume also eased from $996.87 million in the previous snapshot.
A Bybit call with a $3,200 strike price and an Oct. 23 expiry led individual contracts by 24-hour trading volume. Another Bybit call expiring that day, with a $3,400 strike, ranked second. A Binance $2,425 call expiring Oct. 21 was third. The previous snapshot’s volume leader was a Binance $2,500 call expiring Oct. 20.
Deribit held the three largest individual contracts by open interest. Its calls expiring Dec. 25 at $3,200 and $2,200 ranked first and second, followed by a $2,600 call expiring Oct. 30. The same contracts held those positions in the earlier snapshot.
The reported open-interest figure measures the value of options contracts that remain outstanding, while trading volume measures activity during a period. The Binance contract among the latest volume leaders expires Oct. 21, followed by the two Bybit calls on Oct. 23.
