Ether (ETH) options open interest fell 4.29% to $6.04 billion in Coinglass’ Oct. 23 snapshot, while calls held the bigger share of both outstanding contracts and daily trading.
The reading was recorded at 7:23 a.m. EDT (11:23 UTC). Open interest had been $6.32 billion a day earlier, and options trading volume for the day totaled $1.13 billion.
Calls made up 63.31% of open positions, against 36.69% for puts. In trading volume, the split was 59.94% calls and 40.06% puts.
Open interest counts options that remained outstanding at the time of the snapshot; trading volume counts contracts exchanged during the measured period. The call-heavy split alone does not show whether traders expect Ether’s price to rise, since options can protect other positions or form part of strategies involving multiple contracts.
Binance’s Oct. 26 $2,450 call ranked first by trading volume, followed by the exchange’s Oct. 24 $2,475 call and Bybit’s Oct. 25 $2,750 call. Deribit’s Dec. 25 $3,200 call had the largest open interest, ahead of its Dec. 25 $2,200 call and Oct. 30 $2,600 call.
An Oct. 21 Coinglass reading put open interest at $6.21 billion, as detailed in EconoTimes’ earlier Ether options report.
