Ether (ETH) fell behind Bitcoin (BTC) in October, with CoinGecko's UTC dollar closes implying a 7.8% drop in Ether's value relative to Bitcoin by Oct. 19 as its dollar price declined faster.
The matching closing prices imply a ratio of 0.03189 BTC per ETH on Oct. 1 and 0.02939 BTC per ETH on Oct. 19. Those figures are calculated from the assets' dollar prices on each date, rather than taken from separate ETH/BTC market quotes.
Ether's dollar close fell from $2,705.30 to $2,405.92, an 11.1% decline. Bitcoin's dropped from $84,842 to $81,875, or 3.5%. The larger fall in Ether's price meant one Ether was worth fewer bitcoins at the later close, even though both assets lost value against the dollar.
The calculated ratio had moved below 0.03 BTC per ETH by Oct. 12, when CoinGecko's dollar closes implied about 0.02990. It remained below that level on Oct. 19.
