The Etherscan connector gives Claude users a way to inspect public records from more than 60 Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible networks, with no Etherscan account or API key required for keyless access.
The Claude Marketplace listing dates the connector’s addition to September 2026. It can retrieve native coin balances and transaction details, including status checks made with a transaction hash. Users can also query transfer histories for ERC-20, ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens, inspect verified contract code and event logs, and retrieve gas prices. Returned information can include wallet or contract addresses, transaction identifiers, amounts and timestamps.
The connector provides lookup tools; it cannot authorize transactions, transfer assets or modify blockchain records. Its role is to return information for users to review.
Etherscan’s documentation describes two Model Context Protocol (MCP) access routes. The keyless endpoint has 16 tools and rate-limits requests, while the API-key endpoint exposes 21 tools. Five of the latter are PRO tools that require a paid plan. Etherscan says authenticated server use counts toward an API plan.
