German chemical maker Evonik Industries will not negotiate with BASF over a nonbinding proposal covering all Evonik shares, valued at about €11.2 billion ($12.5 billion).
The approach was a proposal for a voluntary public offer. In comments on Sept. 25, BASF described its exchanges with Evonik and RAG-Stiftung as exploratory. Evonik said formal negotiations had not begun at that point.
