First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) is working toward its first digital-asset financing transactions as a custody setup with Komainu enters operational use after two-way transfers of a digital-asset portfolio, the firms said.
In statements issued Nov. 3, the companies said settlement was immediate. They described a technical link that allows FAB Global Markets’ systems to work alongside Komainu’s custody and connectivity tools.
FAB said institutional clients can access its financing services. The bank is still working toward its first digital-asset financing transactions and gave no timetable.
FAB cited collateral for institutional financing, including repurchase agreements backed by digital assets, as one potential application. Komainu said the setup could support future loans against assets in regulated custody. Neither announcement reported a completed loan or repurchase agreement through the arrangement.
The firms identified neither the client nor the assets and gave no portfolio valuation. FAB said its wider digital-asset program also covers deposit transactions with Citi using Swift Ledger and a digitally native green bond on Euroclear’s D-FMI.
