The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) attributed the $1.5 billion theft from Bybit in February 2025 to North Korea, linking the exchange breach to the country.

The FBI uses the name TraderTraitor for hackers behind the Bybit theft.

A separate FBI attribution concerned the Ronin hack in 2022. The bureau linked Lazarus Group to that theft, which was valued at $620 million.
