The National reported that overseas investors and company executives were worried about safety after attacks on Riyadh’s airport; organizers have separately moved a major Saudi investment conference to 2027.

The Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute announced the postponement Oct. 19 for its 10th conference, originally scheduled for Oct. 26-29. The institute said the move was intended to meet expectations for the anniversary event’s scale and quality. Its announcement gave no security reason for the change.

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said two Oct. 8 attacks targeted King Khalid International Airport facilities and a Saudia aircraft. It reported three Saudi citizens killed and injuries among citizens and residents, without specifying how many were hurt. On Oct. 15, a Saudi-led coalition spokesperson accused Houthi forces of attacking civilian airports, including King Khalid International Airport.

The FII Institute says the conference was launched in 2017 by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and brings together heads of state, investors, business leaders and innovators. Existing registrations and partnerships remain valid, the institute said. It said it would announce the new 2027 dates later.
