DENVER, Oct. 04, 2016 -- FORTRUST announced that $130,000 was raised at the First Annual “Champions for Children” Charity Golf Tournament. The event, held at Colorado Golf Club on August 29, 2016, was held to benefit KidsTek and the Ronald McDonald House of Denver. More than 140 golfers participated.
Steve Knudson, CEO, and Robert D. McClary, COO at FORTRUST, presented a check for $65,000 to both KidsTek and the Ronald McDonald House of Denver.
"On behalf of KidsTek and the 900 underprivileged Colorado kids who will benefit from this fundraiser, I would like to thank FORTRUST and the sponsors who have donated to the Champions for Children Golf Tournament,” said Richard Liner, Executive Director at KidsTek. “We are truly blessed to have been a part of this fabulous tournament, and to have received $65,000 to help us expand our technology education programs to even more of our state’s under-served youth – the future workforce of many of these sponsors.”
“We are blown away by the generosity of FORTRUST and all who sponsored and participated in the Champions for Children event,” says Jonna Busack, Development Manager at Ronald McDonald House of Denver. “The money raised will do much to help keep families with sick children close to each other and to the care and resources that they need. We were honored to be part of the day and look forward to a long-standing partnership with our friends at FORTRUST.”
According to FORTRUST COO Robert D. McClary, the charity event is part of an ongoing commitment to give back to the Colorado community. “Champions for Children was not only fun for those who participated, but allowed us to support children who are interested in technology education, as well as families of children in their time of need,” he said.
Sponsors for the event included Presenting Sponsor Sturgeon Electric and Platinum Sponsors Etkin Johnson, Haselden Construction and RK. The 2017 Champions for the Children Charity Golf Tournament will be held on July 17, 2017 at the Colorado Golf Club. Sponsorships are available.
