FXStreet reported Dow and S&P 500 futures higher but Nasdaq 100 futures lower in early Tuesday trading, a mixed reading ahead of the Federal Reserve’s next interest rate decision.
The outlet published its report at 5:05 a.m. ET (09:05 UTC). During European trading, it put Dow futures up 0.38% near 52,380 points and S&P 500 futures up 0.13% near 7,740. Nasdaq 100 futures were down 0.12% near 29,690, FXStreet reported.
The report followed Monday’s mixed U.S. close. The S&P 500 closed higher at 7,690.73, and the Nasdaq Composite rose to 26,430.89, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended lower at 51,966.03, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices and Nasdaq data hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
The Associated Press said artificial intelligence shares helped drive Monday’s gains even as most stocks outside artificial intelligence and technology fell. It also cited borrowing costs as a source of pressure on investment in artificial intelligence.
In a separate snapshot at about 1:30 p.m. ET (17:30 UTC), Polymarket’s market for the October Fed decision priced no change at 87% and a 0.25-percentage-point increase at 14%. Those were prices in the prediction market, not Federal Reserve forecasts.
The Federal Open Market Committee raised its target range by 0.25 percentage point to 3.75%–4% on Sept. 16. At that meeting, it said inflation remained elevated.
Company results offered another market update after the early futures report. General Motors released third-quarter results at 6:30 a.m. ET Tuesday, reporting $50.0 billion in revenue and $3.3 billion in net income attributable to stockholders for the three months ended Sept. 30. Netflix was scheduled to release results at about 4:01 p.m. ET (20:01 UTC) Tuesday, before the Fed’s Oct. 27–28 meeting.
