Canada’s federal government scheduled a Friday housing announcement in Kuujjuaq, citing affordability and conditions in Inuit communities as the event’s priorities, according to the official event advisory.

Rebecca Alty, minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, and Mandy Gull-Masty, minister of Indigenous Services, are scheduled to make the announcement, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada said. Makivvik President Pita Aatami will attend.

The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. ET on Oct. 30 at 874 Naalavvik Street in Kuujjuaq. The department asked media planning to attend in person or virtually to register in advance with its media relations team.

Alty had been scheduled to make a separate housing announcement with the Métis Nation of Ontario in Midland on Oct. 23.
